Abraham Lincoln documentary claims having same-sex relationships before becoming President

Lover of Men: The Untold History of Abraham Lincoln comes out September 6 in AMC Theaters.

Abraham Lincoln was engaged in sexual relationships with other men before becoming president according to a new documentary, 

The upcoming documentary "Lover of Men: The Untold History of Abraham Lincoln" focuses on Abraham Lincoln's personal life, specifically exploring his purported romantic relationships with men.

Lincoln's sexual inclinations are investigated through interviews with numerous scholars and the examination of previously unseen letters and photographs.

As one expert on the 16th president claims, "Lincoln probably slept in the same bed with more men than he did with women."

Speculation about Abraham Lincoln's sexual orientation, including suggestions of being gay or bisexual, has been ongoing for decades, covered extensively in magazine articles, books, and other publications.

Lincoln's well-documented marital difficulties with Mary Todd include claims that he shared a bed with his close male friend Joshua Fry Speed for four years.

The movie delves “into the history of human sexual fluidity and focuses on the profound differences between sexual mores of the 19th century and those we hold today. The film fills in an important missing piece of American history and challenges the audience to consider why we hold such a limited view of human sexuality.”

Directed by Shaun Peterson, the film investigates Lincoln’s close relationships with daring and dashing guys, featuring interviews with historians from prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Wellesley, and Rutgers.
