Foreign nationals robbed; ringleader of dacoits, accomplices arrested

The White Corolla gang has struck again in district south, posing as police officers and robbing a foreigner of 5,000 euros.

According to details, a suspect, posing as a police officer, stopped the foreign national’s car in the Red Zone area of Artillery Maidan police station and robbed him under the pretext of a search. The police have obtained footage of the incident. The police confirmed that the French citizen, Idreesi, was robbed by the suspects who were riding in a white car. The accused took advantage of the search to steal foreign currency while checking Idreesi’s passport and bag. The affected foreign national has not yet filed a complaint, and the police have launched a search for the White Corolla gang with the help of CCTV footage. So far, the police have not been able to register a case against the accused.

Meanwhile, a foreign national, who has come for religious gatherings in the city from India, was robbed at gunpoint by two unidentified robbers in North Nazimabad on Saturday.

The victim, Nusrat, told police that he was stopped by two armed suspects riding a white car. The suspects snatched 3,000 US dollars and 12,000 Pakistani rupees from him.

A police spokesperson said that the victim has refused to take any legal action, however, the police have acquired the CCTV footage of the incident and trying to arrest the culprits.

He mentioned that the vehicle used in the robbery had a fake number plate.

Meanwhile, Iqbal Market police arrested three robbers including the ringleader of the dacoit gang and recovered Rs950,000 in cash, arms, bullets, mobile phones and motorcycles from their possession. The arrested robbers had robbed the recovery rider of a private company in Jamshed Quarters, who filed a case of robbery of Rs4,730,000 while the robbers told the police that the looted amount was Rs2,450,000.

SSP District West Hafeezur Rehman Bugti, however, told the press that robbers had snatched Rs4,730,000 in cash from the recovery rider of a private company in Mohajir Colony area of Jamshed Quarters on July 10. The case of which was registered on the complaint of the company manager.

He said, the arrested robbers include Ziauddin alias Jeddah Mama, the ringleader of the gang while the other two were identified as Kashif Mirza alias Danish and Asif alias Bajrangi.

The police have recovered a total of Rs950,000 in cash, three mobile phones, two pistols, bullets and the motorcycles which they were using. The arrested robbers have confessed their involvement in five robberies at cap making shop Orangi Town, passers-by near Orangi Zaid MC, and other three robberies. The arrested robbers are habitual criminals who have previously been arrested by Garden, Liaquatabad, New Karachi, Supermarket and Pirabad police.
