US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome met with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss bilateral relations and mutual interests, including security and law enforcement cooperation.
Minister Naqvi on Saturday welcomed Blome to the Ministry of Interior, where the two officials exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics, and security.
They agreed to organise a law enforcement dialogue in October to further strengthen collaboration.
The meeting was attended by the federal interior secretary, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhaw and the IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
“The support from the United States in boosting the capabilities of our law enforcement agencies is crucial,” said Naqvi.
He assured Blome of the Ministry’s commitment to bolstering bilateral relations.
Naqvi also mentioned recent discussions held in New York to enhance cooperation between Islamabad Police and the New York Police Department, with plans for an Islamabad police delegation to visit New York for training.
Naqvi reiterated the Pakistani government’s commitment to protecting the rights of all minorities, highlighting recent actions taken against those involved in the Jaranwala incident.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman praised the successful hosting of the T20 World Cup in the United States, noting that the US is emerging as a significant venue for international cricket.
He revealed that plans are underway for a tri-nation series involving Pakistan, the US, and Canada, as well as cricket leagues in the US and Canada.Blome expressed satisfaction with the large turnout and excitement for the cricket matches.
