Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced plans to send Pakistani nurses to the United States.

This decision came during a meeting in Islamabad with New York State Assembly Deputy Speaker Philip Ramos and his delegation, where they discussed mutual interests such as education, health, policing, and economic cooperation.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to send qualified Pakistani nurses to New York for employment, pending the completion of necessary procedures that will be finalised soon.

Ramos extended an invitation to Minister Naqvi to visit New York, emphasising the shortage of qualified nurses in the US and highlighting Pakistan's potential to address this gap. He noted that enhanced bilateral cooperation would benefit both nations.

Naqvi shared that during his tenure in Punjab, he focused on the nursing sector, doubling the number of nursing students. He also plans to increase the number of nurses in Islamabad and will take immediate steps to facilitate the employment of qualified Pakistani nurses in New York.

The interior minsiter also mentioned that during his recent visit to New York, there were positive discussions on enhancing cooperation between the Islamabad Police and the New York Police Department. An Islamabad Police delegation is set to visit New York soon.

The American delegation included New York Assembly member Alec Kransy, Chairman of American Pakistani Public Affairs Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, President of the New York Chapter Tariq Khan, President Imtiaz Rahi, Director Dr. Parvez Iqbal, former Executive Director Athar Tirmizi, and Vice President of Texas Dr. Khalid Mahmood.
