PDMA warns of potential floods in Punjab following torrential rains

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood warning for areas including Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, and Rajanpur due to anticipated heavy rainfall in the mountainous regions of Koh-e-Suleiman.

According to the Met Department, torrential rains in the hilly areas could result in medium-level flooding on July 12 and 13.

A flood alert has also been issued for the rivers in Punjab, advising district administrations to remain vigilant and ensure all necessary precautionary measures are in place.

Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed has directed the relevant district administrations to stay on high alert and to relocate residents and livestock to safer areas.

He assured that the Punjab government would take full care of the affected citizens and their livestock.

Javed emphasized that preemptive arrangements to handle any potential flood situation have been completed under the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, urging residents to evacuate their homes and cooperate with the administration in case of an emergency.

Additionally, he highlighted that the PDMA’s helpline, 1129, is available 24/7 to assist the public in any emergency situation.
