Lahore experienced record-breaking rainfall, reaching up to 315 millimetres (mm), breaking a 44-year record. The streets were flooded, causing difficulties for residents.
The highest recorded rainfall in Lahore reached 315mm, surpassing last year’s record of 291 in Lak-shmi Chowk.
Rainfall in Different Areas of Lahore Tajpura recorded 315mm of rainfall, followed by Chok Nakha with 158mm, Nishtar Town with 172mm, Lakshmi Chowk with 178mm, Mughalpura with 147mm, Pani Wala Talab with 151mm and Iqbal Town with 158mm.
At least four people, including three women, died and seven others were injured when the roof of a house collapsed during heavy rain in Sheikhupura on Friday.
Rescue officials reported that the tragic incident occurred near Milad Chowk in Siddiqua Colony. The heavy rain caused the roof to collapse, resulting in the deaths of 55-year-old Kausar Bibi, 50-year-old Bano, 35-year-old Mufeeza, and 25-year-old Ali Raza.
Seven people were injured in the incident and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical assistance.
Meanwhile, a child was killed and 11 others includ-ing five women suffered injuries in different inci-dents after heavy rain and wind storm disrupted life in Burewala city and surroundings on Friday.
The rain and storm dislocated electric poles and bent trees on electricity wires disrupting electricity supply to different parts of the city while heavy rains choked the sewerage system.
An eight-year-old child was killed and a woman was injured in the Ghulam Muhammad colony after a roof of a house collapsed.
Overall 11 persons including five women were injured in different roof and wall collapse incidents in Burewala city and surrounding villages.
Three injured persons were stated to be in critical condition. Medical Superintendent THQ Hospital Dr Imran Bhatti called doctors and paramedical staff on emergency duty.
Assistant Commissioner Malik Farooq Ahmad also called Baldia staff and deployed them along with ma-chinery at all the troubled points in the city to drain out rainwater.
