Due to a ban imposed on single-use plastic in Punjab, instructions have been issued to stop the use of plastic packing of luggage at the Lahore airport.
Punjab Environment Director General Imran Hamid Sheikh issued orders to the airports administration, pointing out that packing of bags with plastic wrapping sheets had been prohibited.
He said the packing of bags was generating a lot of plastic waste.
Moreover, plastic packaging has been banned at airports around the world, he added.

said that the action of Punjab Environment Protection Department against plastic bags is gaining strength throughout the province and special squads had conducted 29,757 inspections and confiscated 12,849kg of plastic bags of thickness less than 75 microns.
According to a spokesman for the department, ten squads had conducted 29,757 raids during the past month, including 2,195 in the provincial capital, in which plastic bags weighing 1,049kg had been seized.
According to officials, similar instructions have been issued to stop the use of plastic packaging at the Islamabad airport.
