Patrick Stewart is set to reprise his iconic role as Professor Charles Xavier in the upcoming film "Deadpool & Wolverine." Stewart, widely acclaimed for his portrayal of Professor X in the X-Men film series, will join Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in what promises to be a landmark film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This news was first reported by Deadline.

In 2022, Stewart made a cameo appearance as a variant of Professor X in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," where his character met a deadly end at the hands of Scarlet Witch. Fans are hopeful that his next appearance will be less fatal.

The plot details of "Deadpool & Wolverine" remain under wraps, but insiders suggest that the film will explore a multiverse storyline, a theme increasingly prominent in recent MCU projects. This approach opens the door for various crossovers with other beloved characters from the X-Men universe.

In addition to Stewart, Ryan Reynolds will return as Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine. Other returning cast members include Karan Soni as Deadpool’s cab driver sidekick Dopinder, Leslie Uggams as his roommate Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as his fiancée Vanessa, and Stefan Kapicic as the metallic mutant Colossus. Comedian Rob Delaney is also expected to return in some capacity.

Newcomers to the franchise include Emma Corrin from "The Crown" and Matthew Macfadyen from "Succession." The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, known for his work on "Free Guy" and "The Adam Project." Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will return to the franchise, with Kevin Feige producing.

Stewart's return as Professor X has generated significant excitement among fans, who are eager to see how the film will integrate his character into the evolving MCU narrative. "Deadpool & Wolverine" promises to be a pivotal installment in the MCU, blending familiar characters with fresh faces and new storylines.
