A homeless Florida man is facing charges after allegedly trespassing into Bonita Springs City Hall early Tuesday morning.

Surveillance cameras captured 31-year-old Jamal Gambrel entering the building through the east employee doors at 4:57 a.m., according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO).

Gambrel then reportedly explored various areas, including the council chambers, front lobby, reception area, and finance department.

At 5 a.m., a city hall employee discovered the alarms were not activated upon arrival. She noticed a backpack and shoe in the finance department and saw Gambrel walking away from her colleagues' offices, prompting her to call 999.

Gambrel fled the building towards Bonita Beach Road. Later, at 9:30 a.m., deputies spotted Gambrel near a Sunoco petrol station and apprehended him after he attempted to hide in a bush.
