Vishal Punjabi, the renowned wedding filmmaker behind the wedding videos of star couples Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli, and, Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh has revealed why he turned down the opportunity to film the wedding video of Bollywood duo Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
In a recent interview, Punjabi disclosed that he had to decline Alia and Ranbir's request to cover their wedding ceremony, explaining that the couple contacted him a few weeks before their wedding on April 14, 2022, but he was not available at that time.
“Celebrities often contact videographers just weeks before their wedding to ensure no private information about the event is leaked. The downside is that videographers are often unavailable,” Punjabi said.
He further added “I have never canceled a wedding to cover a celebrity’s wedding. I didn’t film Alia and Ranbir’s wedding because I was already booked to film a wedding in London for a very beautiful, lovely bride. I wouldn’t change that for the world even now. She was gorgeous, and it was a beautiful experience. Ranbir and Alia would have gotten a nice wedding video."
Punjabi emphasized his professional principles, stating that he does not cancel pre-existing bookings to accommodate celebrities. "I have a principle of not canceling my prior commitments, regardless of the client's status. Everyone is equal to me," he added. "If I am available, I will certainly make the video."
