Scarlett Johansson hops on the Dolly Parton tattoo conspiracy train: "Is it real?"

Actor Scarlett Johansson sparked further curiosity with her comments about Dolly Parton's alleged tattoo sleeves.

Scarlett Johansson recently diverted attention from her upcoming film, “Fly Me to the Moon” to focus on a new conspiracy. 

During the world premiere of the film at New York's AMC Lincoln Square Theater on Monday, July 8, Johansson, 39, expressed intrigue regarding Dolly Parton's rumored full tattooed sleeves.

"I don't know. I'm so not a conspiracy theorist. I'm like, I really believe in science. I don't know. I think probably that Dolly Parton has full tattooed sleeves," Johansson shared with PEOPLE, flashing a sly smile. "Is it real? We'll find out."

Accompanied by her husband Colin Jost, Johansson's curiosity stems from her latest cinematic endeavor, inspired by the controversial Apollo 11 moon landing. Meanwhile, Dolly Parton, 78, confirmed to PEOPLE in September 2020 that she does indeed sport tattoos, describing them as "artful" and initially intended to cover scars.

"My tattoos are pretty, they’re artful and they usually started out to cover some scar, not to make a big statement," Parton explained. "Ribbons and bows and butterflies are the things that I have."

Parton elaborated on her tattoo motives, highlighting how her inked designs reflect her journey of turning adversity into beauty. "I like to make positives out of negatives," she emphasized.

Johansson, also a producer on "Fly Me to the Moon," portrays Kelly Jones, a marketing team member at NASA. She praised the film's innovation, describing it as "totally original" and not adhering to typical cinematic formulas.

"It’s not derivative of anything else, it doesn’t follow a formula," Johansson stated. "I think audiences haven’t been offered a big-idea movie that is both funny and poignant and original in a long time, and they are hungry for that."

"Fly Me to the Moon," directed by Greg Berlanti, premieres on July 12. Johansson graced the event in a stylish custom Prada ensemble, underlining her blend of elegance and curiosity about Parton's mysterious tattoos.
