LARKANA:

A mobile tower in Sindh's Larkana city was stolen in a well-coordinated heist, according to media reports.

The incident occurred in the Bhoonbhutpur village of Naudero last month, where thieves used cutters to dismantle the tower, removing it piece by piece along with the iron main gate and other associated installations.

Despite having two guards designated to protect the tower, the security measures proved inadequate. The theft was discovered after the mobile company received customer complaints about signal issues.

Upon inspection, staff found the entire tower missing. A case was registered at Naudero Police Station following a complaint by Telenor Pakistan's regional security manager, Sajid Iqbal, who implicated the two watchmen.

Police arrested two suspects, including a scrap dealer, and recovered part of the stolen tower.

A police official informed a portion of the scrap of the stolen tower had been recovered and a scrap dealer, Saadullah Brohi, had been taken into custody.

Investigations revealed the tower had not been used for nearly six months due to unpaid rent and salaries. According to media reports, the stolen tower was valued at approximately Rs2 million.
