‘K-P to increase oil, gas production capacity’

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is determined to increase the production capacity of oil and gas in the province to help develop and stabilise the country’s economy.

Addressing a seminar organized by Energy and Power Department, Special Secretary Energy and Power Tashfeen Haider said around 42 percent of the country’s crude oil, equaling to 30,000 barrels per day, is being produced in the K-P.

He said oil and gas is being produced at 16 places in the southern districts of the province, including Kohat, Karak, Hangu and Lakki Marwat, adding the province is getting billions of rupees in the form of royalties and federal excise duty on gas.

Addressing the seminar, Additional Secretary Akhlaq Ahmed Khan said the provincial government has started a work on forming committees to improve production guidelines bonuses.
