LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench disqualified PML-N MPA Malik Yasir Raza, acting on a petition challenging the validity of Raza's educational certificate.

Raza said that the decision of the LHC was unjust and vowed to file an appeal in the apex court against the verdict.

The petition challenging the MPA's intermediate certificate was filed by Ishtiaq Mirza. Justice Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmad of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench had, earlier, reserved his judgement of Malik Yasir Raza.

Ishtiaq Mirza had also been a candidate from PP-13, the same constituency where Malik Yasir Raza got elected in 2008.

There have been many cases of parliamentarians being disqualified for holding fake degrees in the past. Following much uproar, the HEC sent out 934 parliamentarians' degrees for verification to relevant universities across the country on June 29.

Hasan | 14 years ago | Reply @ Syed Mateen: I think we should close down all schools, colleges and all universities because we do not need education at all. With two third majority the parliament should take out all educational budget and distribute this amount to all these fake degree holders and parliamentarians, because they have done a wonderful job. No eduction is the best policy for Pakistan for future development.
Imran | 14 years ago | Reply Has LHC run out of terrorists to set free so now they are setting free some MNAs? There is no law requirement for degree so how can he be disqualified? Why don't they do some justice for the people or go home and have a nap instead of only causing problems.
