Mark Zuckerberg's fourth of July stunt draws snarky response from Elon Musk

"May he continue to have fun on his yachts. I prefer to work," Musk snarked.

Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk reignited their long-standing feud over the Fourth of July holiday when Zuckerberg posted a viral video on Instagram and Facebook. 

The Meta co-founder shared a clip of himself riding a hydrofoil in a tuxedo, waving an American flag in one hand and sipping a beer in the other. "Happy birthday, America!" Zuckerberg captioned the post.

While many fans praised Zuckerberg's stunt, calling him the "coolest billionaire CEO ever,"

Musk had a different take. The SpaceX founder took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment, "May he continue to have fun on his yachts. I prefer to work."

This clash is the latest in a series of public spats between the tech moguls. 

Their contentious history includes Musk challenging Zuckerberg to a cage fight in February and ongoing competition between their platforms, with Meta launching the Twitter-like app Threads in July 2023.

In addition to their social media rivalry, the pair have exchanged harsh words in the past. Zuckerberg expressed disappointment when a Meta satellite was destroyed in a SpaceX launch failure in 2016, and Musk has repeatedly urged users to delete Facebook, branding it "lame" and "partisan."

Despite their differences, both billionaires face similar criticisms. 

Zuckerberg has been under fire for Meta's data privacy practices, including a 2022 lawsuit over third-party access to user data. 

Musk, on the other hand, has been accused of pushing conspiracy theories and reinstating problematic accounts on X, alongside issues with Tesla recalls and the Cybertruck design.
