QUETTA:

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari confirmed on Friday that his party would participate in the government’s All Parties Conference (APC), aiming to bring Balochistan’s viewpoint on terrorism.

He asserted that the PPP has a clear and comprehensive policy on terrorism, adding that it will not only attend and send representatives but will share its perspective and position on Balochistan.

“We need to form a consensus to effectively deal with these issues,” he said at a press conference in Quetta.

“The PPP is in favour of reaching a consensus on all matters pertaining to the country, including fighting terrorism, since we have our own policy and a strong commitment to eliminating the scourge,” he added.

Bilawal, flanked by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, highlighted the APC as an opportunity for all political parties to express their opinions. PPP Balochistan President Changez Jamali and Member of the National Assembly Ejaz Jhakrani were also present.

During his two-day visit to Balochistan, Bilawal was briefed on ongoing uplift schemes and proposed development projects. He held detailed discussions with the provincial leadership and party workers.

Stressing the need for consensus on national issues, Bilawal said it was crucial for the continuity of the democratic process and the country’s stability.

Despite some reservations, the PPP supports the federal government in the larger national interest and appreciates its assistance with development projects.

Bilawal stressed Balochistan’s untapped potential, stating, “The resources of the province will be utilised for the welfare of its people.” He praised CM Bugti’s ambitious agenda for reforms in health, education, youth skills development, and women empowerment.

He noted the government’s plan to establish a state-of-the-art hospital modelled after Gambat Hospital and NICVD.
