Twenty-two brigadiers were promoted to the rank of Major-General in Pakistan Army, sources said on Friday.
Their promotions were approved by the Pakistan Army Promotion Board headed by the army chief.
The formal decision was taken at a meeting of the board held at the General Headquarters. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir presided over the meeting.
Brigadiers promoted to the two-star rank belonged to various corps – including Armed Corps, Artillery, Air Defence, Aviation, Infantary Corps of Military Intelligence and EME.
Among the officers got promotion included current military secretaries of the President and the Prime Minister.

Those promoted include: Brigadier Adnan Sultan, Brigadier Usman Kiyani, Brigadier Imran Sartaj, Brigadier Yahya Usman, Brigadier Usman Iqbal, Brigadier Jolian, Brigadier Saeed Anwar, Brigadier Arfan Ramay and Brigadier Attiq.
Those promoted from the Infantry include Brigadier Mehr Omer, Brigadier Imtiaz Gillani, Brigadier Ahmed Jawad, Brigadier Tajdeed, Brigadier Bilal Sarfraz, Brigadier Khurram Shabbir, Brigadier Faisal Saud, Brigadier Abid Mazhar, Brigadier Shehryar Muneer, Brigadier Shehryar Qureshi, Brigadier Adil Iftikhar, Brigadier Amjad Aziz, and Brigadier Zulfikar Shaheen.
