KARACHI:

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported on Friday that Karachi is expected to experience partly cloudy conditions today.

Despite this, the city’s hot and humid weather is likely to persist for the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Office, the maximum temperature is expected to rise between 34°C and 36°C, with humidity levels reaching 76%.

Sea winds blowing at a speed of 21 kilometres per hour may offer some respite from the intense heat. Over the past 24 hours, the minimum temperature recorded was 31°C.

In other regions, the weather in most districts of Balochistan is also expected to be hot and humid. However, the Met Office predicts a chance of rain, accompanied by strong winds and thunder, in Zhob, Shirani, Musa Khel, Barkhan, and Khuzdar.

Residents of Karachi have been eagerly awaiting relief from the sweltering temperatures that have recently gripped the city.

So far, only light drizzle in some areas has provided minor improvement but has not been enough to break the ongoing heat spell.

Earlier this week, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz stated that the metropolitan city is likely to witness rains after July 8.

This forecast aligns with PMD's prediction of "vigorous monsoon activity" in the upper and central parts of the country, driven by strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
