LAHORE:

Moazzam Ghurki, President of the Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI), highlighted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) not only boosts the economy and bilateral trade but also offers Pakistan opportunities to enhance its educational sector. Speaking at a think tank session at the PCJCCI Secretariat on Wednesday, Ghurki highlighted the benefits of adopting robust educational policies, according to a press statement.

Ghurki noted that developing economies globally strive for educational advancement to achieve substantial development. In Pakistan, the Ministry of Education (MOE) is revitalising policies to address educational challenges.

Fang Yulong, Senior Vice President of PCJCCI, praised China’s significant advancements in research and development. He mentioned that China surpassed Japan in R&D expenditures in 2008 and continues to increase its scientific research productivity. CPEC offers Pakistan the chance to link with the world’s largest economy and learn from China’s educational strategies.

Hamza Khalid, Vice President of PCJCCI, stated that through CPEC, Pakistan can benefit from China’s experiences in the education sector, adopting modern technologies in engineering, technology, and vocational training programmes to address unemployment challenges.

Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General of PCJCCI, called for new youth programmes aligned with market demands. He added that the chamber provides a platform to promote academic linkages between Pakistan and China. Hanif expressed hope that CPEC would create significant employment opportunities in the province.
