A trilateral meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev took place on Wednesday.
The leaders discussed regional and global peace and prosperity, emphasising the importance of fostering regional cooperation for sustainable development.
Held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, the meeting covered various issues of mutual interest, according to a press release from the PM's Office.
During the discussion, PM Shehbaz stressed the need to establish a mechanism among the three countries to promote trilateral cooperation in the economic and investment sectors.
A previous round of trilateral meetings had already been held among the respective foreign ministers of Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan.
The prime minister highlighted that Pakistan places high importance on its bilateral ties with Turkiye and Azerbaijan. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing trilateral cooperation in areas such as the economy, energy, tourism, climate change, culture, education, and IT.
