A man in Florida faces felony robbery charges after allegedly attempting to withdraw just 1 cent from a bank in Sumter County.

The incident took place at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Chase Bank on US-441 in Lady Lake, according to an arrest affidavit from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Fleming entered the bank, filled out a withdrawal slip for 1 cent, and handed it to a teller. When informed that withdrawing such a small amount was not possible, Fleming allegedly made an implied threat. Concerned for safety, the teller contacted law enforcement.

Deputies arrived and apprehended Fleming inside the bank without incident. He was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office and, after being read his rights, agreed to speak with deputies. Details of the conversation were redacted, but authorities determined there was probable cause for a robbery charge under Florida law.

Fleming, 41, remains in custody at the Sumter County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond, as per online jail records on Tuesday afternoon.
