Young talent shines at first Punjab music competition

Prominent singers of the country have been recognised for their exceptional performances. A ceremony was held to distribute royalty checks to singers, songwriters, and their families.

Film star Mumtaz Begum was the chief guest at the event. Renowned musicians Ustad Tafo Khan, film star Nashoo Begum, Tasawwar Khanum, Humaira Channa, and Riaz Rehman Sagar were among those who received royalty checks.

Prominent film director Syed Noor emphasised the importance of singers, musicians, writers, and poets understanding their copyrights and rights. He shared these thoughts during a scheduled workshop on copyright awareness.

Folk singer Attaullah Esakhelvi, ghazal singer Ghulam Ali, Firdous Jamal, Shehzad Rafique, Aziz Jahangiri, Javed Warraich, Khalid Anam, musician Arshad Mehmood, Muhammad Ali Shehki, Tarannum Naz, Humaira Channa, Tasawwar Khanum, Ali Atar, Tanveer Afridi, Aamir Ghulam Ali, Qaiser Javed, Abbas Jutt Khurram Mansoor and Sabir Zafar were among the showbiz personalities who attended the workshop. The conference discussed critical topics related to the implementation of international standards and sustainable copyright frameworks, providing valuable insights to foster a strong copyright protection environment in the country. Syed Noor highlighted the lack of importance given to IPOs and urged artists to claim their rights. Singer Muhammad Ali Shehki stressed the necessity of frequent workshops for maximum benefit.

Famous film and TV actress Meera announced her engagements in several ventures in the coming days.

Speaking to the media at the Lahore Press Club, Meera mentioned restarting work in Punjab, collaborating on a project with Shaan, and resuming film shooting after recovering from a hand fracture.

Addressing her marriage rumours, she stated that any future marriage would be conducted in the presence of the media.

Film star Meera’s brother, Hussain, recently got married in a ceremony held in Defense, Lahore, attended by family and close relatives, including Meera, who performed a dance in celebration. Meera expressed her joy at her brother’s marriage, describing it as indescribable.

The groom’s parents extended their prayers and well wishes, while other guests at the ceremony shared their happiness and good wishes for the newlyweds.

The Punjab Council of Arts, Faisalabad Division, has reported severe violations of decency and regulations in Minerva Theatre, Minerva Gold, and Sabina Theatre in Faisalabad.

The Deputy Commissioner of Faisalabad took immediate action following performances by Aafreen Khan, Zara Shah, and Sobiya Khan, which were deemed obscene and inappropriate.

Earlier, the Executive Director of Punjab Arts Council, Ghulam Saghir Shahid, had issued a directive for strict action.
