Citizens of the metropolitan city are openly defying a ban on bathing in the sea to beat the heat amid severe hot and humid conditions exacerbated by prolonged power outages.
The Karachi commissioner has imposed Section 144 in the coastal areas of the metropolis which includes prohibition of bathing in the sea due to safety concerns. Citizens, however, attribute the defiance to long-hour load-shedding, which they claim has made adherence to the ban difficult.
