PAC holds book launch for ghazal collection

A book launch event for the poetry collection, "Ujagh Mein Pari Hai Raakh", written by the renowned and distinguished ghazal poet, Aftab Khan, was organised at the Punjab Arts Council (PAC) in collaboration with Qalam Qafila Islamabad.

The event was presided over by Professor Dr Munawwar Hashmi. The special guests included Dr Nisar Tarabi, Naseem Sehar, Dr Nazar Abid, Professor Irfan Jamil and Sajjad Hussain. The event was hosted by Nayyar Sarhadi.

Dr Munawwar Hashmi, in his presidential address, remarked that only those poetry collections which maintain a high standard of thought and art achieve distinction in the world of poetry. “Aftab Khan is a multifaceted creator whose creative effort and artistic maturity establish him as an important ghazal poet in the tradition of Urdu ghazal,” he said.

Director of Arts Council, Sajjad Hussain stated that Aftab Khan's poetry is a beautiful reference to the modern literary scene and that his presence in the literary circles of Rawalpindi is always a pleasure. While expressing his thoughts, the poet himself, thanked his literary friends for their hospitality.

Dr Junaid Azhar, MD Malik, Syed Jamal Zaidi, Saleem Akhtar, Tajammul Shah, Rafat Anjum and Imran Rushdi also expressed their views and presented their papers on the book, declaring "Ujagh Mein Pari Hai Raakh" to be poetry of a unique and new style.
