KHARIANWALA:

Police claimed to have arrested an accused wanted in a triple murder case on Friday. Police said accused Asif alias Atif was wanted in the killing of his three friends Gufran Ali, Muhammad Siddique, and Zubair at Chak 72-RB, Bahmaniwala.

Three days back, in a fit of rage, the accused opened fire and killed three of his friends over a trivial matter, and then fled the scene.

The incident was reported in the Bahimaniwala area of Balochani police station, where Asif alias Atif opened fire on his three friends, Ghuffran Ali (23), Muhammad Siddiq (45), and Zubair Shabbir (22), over a minor matter, injuring them. Ghuffran Ali succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Siddiq and Zubair were shifted to Kharianwala Hospital, where they died after struggling for life.

SP Jaranwala Abid Hussain Zafar said the accused, Asif alias Atif, and the deceased were residents of the same street and were friends together, but had a dispute that led to the shooting.

The news of the three deaths was spread like wildfire, and the heirs of the deceased, along with villagers, placed the bodies and protested in Adda Chowk, and Kharianwala.

The protesters blocked the road and set tires on fire, chanting slogans against the police for not arresting the accused. The protest continued for several hours.

RPO Dr Abid Khan took notice of the incident and ordered the CPO to submit a report and directed the SSP Investigation to preserve all evidence and arrest the accused immediately, while also placing his name on the no-fly list. The Balochani police registered a case of triple murder and started a search for the accused.
