Taraji P. Henson expressed her admiration for Megan Thee Stallion in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, commending the rapper for her resilience and success ahead of the 2024 BET Awards. Henson, who starred in Megan's "Body" music video, attended the rapper's Hot Girl Summer Tour in Los Angeles on June 21 and was impressed by her performance.

"That was my first time seeing her perform live on her stage, headlining. She's amazing," Henson said. "She has been able to withstand all of the adversity and rise above it. She's incredible. I love you Megan, and I'm so proud of you."

Henson, known for her role in "The Color Purple," has been a supporter of Megan for several years, appreciating her growth and success. She shared her enthusiasm for supporting other women, stating, "I'm like auntie, you know? I'm a girl's girl. Anything women are doing, I'm there. I'm the cheerleader. I'm the loudest one in the front cheering them on, and that's what you should be as an elder."

The actress emphasized the importance of supporting women in a challenging environment, adding, "Be here for these babies! You know, it's hard enough out here for women, and what I'm not gonna be is another obstacle for another woman. So, I'm a champion. I'm a team player. I'm a girl's girl. Go Meg. Go Meg. I got you. I love you."

Henson is set to host the BET Awards for the third time, expressing excitement for the event, which will feature performances from artists like Will Smith and Usher. "It's culture's biggest night. The performances are gonna blow us all away," Henson said. She also hinted at showcasing a new talent during the show, saying, "I'm showcasing yet another talent that a lot of you don't know that I can do. Some of you know, but not all of you. The world will know."

The 2024 BET Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 30.
