Interior minister highlights Pakistan's role in UN peacekeeping at UNCOPS Summit

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan's dedication to United Nations peacekeeping efforts during his address at the UNCOPS Summit 2024 at the UN General Assembly.

He emphasised Pakistan's long standing contributions to UN peacekeeping missions and highlighted its commitment to partnerships, particularly with the African Union and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Naqvi further stressed the need for a collaborative approach to developing the concept of peace enforcement around the world.

He underscored the importance of addressing the root causes of conflicts through preventive diplomacy.

Naqvi pointed out the increasing challenges faced by UN peacekeeping missions, including threats from terrorist groups, tribal rivalries, and safety risks.

Naqvi also highlighted the importance of improving the command and control structure to ensure timely responses to attacks against civilians and peacekeepers.
