The 1294th annual Urs celebrations of revered Sufi Saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi was inaugurated on Thursday in Clifton. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who inaugurated the Urs, laid a floral wreath at the shrine and offered prayers for the country's progress, prosperity, and the resolution of its challenges. He also distributed clothes, water, juice, and food among the devotees.
While speaking to the media after the ceremony, Tessori expressed confidence that prayers made through the intercession of this revered saint would be answered, bringing stability to Pakistan's economy. He highlighted efforts by the prime minister and the army chief to attract investments through the Special Investment and Facilitation Council (SICIF). He also prayed for relief from the current heatwave baking the province.
Tessori said that Pakistan has endured massive losses in the past two years due to adverse climatic events. The upcoming visit of the spiritual leader of the Bohra community to Pakistan would stimulate economic activity with an expected influx of over 50,000 visitors, he said.
Responding to concerns about electricity shortages during the heatwave, Tessori urged K Electric to ensure an end to unannounced load-shedding.
