Australia's Head takes top spot in ICC T20 rankings as Babar and Rizwan slip down

Major reshuffle in ICC T20 rankings as a new number one emerges; impressive rises for Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah

India's Suryakumar Yadav has been dethroned from his long-held position at the top of the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings.

The new number one is Australian opener Travis Head, who has ascended to the summit following a remarkable run since establishing himself as the top-order batsman for his national team in T20 cricket.

Head's standout performance came in the T20 World Cup, where he scored an impressive 76 in a losing effort against India, extending the match much longer than expected after Rohit Sharma's significant total for India.

Head's rise to the top saw him leapfrog four spots, relegating Suryakumar Yadav, Phil Salt, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan each down by one place to round out the top five.

The only new entrant into the top ten is West Indies' Johnson Charles, who climbed four places, while Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz moved up five places but remains just outside the top ten.

In the all-rounder rankings, not all news is positive for Australians, as Marcus Stoinis has been knocked off the top spot, dropping to fourth. India’s Hardik Pandya has moved up to third, Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi holds the second spot, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga has reclaimed the number one position. West Indies' Roston Chase made a significant leap, moving up 17 places to sit in 12th.

Among bowlers, England’s Adil Rashid maintains his position at the top, but Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has moved up to second following his stellar World Cup performances. Josh Hazlewood of Australia climbed three places to fourth, just behind Hasaranga.

Further down the rankings, several notable players have made significant advances. India’s Kuldeep Yadav surged 20 places to 11th, his compatriot Jasprit Bumrah made an impressive jump of 44 spots to 24th, and England’s Jofra Archer climbed 19 places to 38th following his return from injury.
