The Labour Welfare Department has launched an awareness campaign to implement safety SOPs for the safety of high-speed bike riders which are appointed by various food outlets to deliver food to in the shortest possible time.

As part of the initiative, the department issued notices to food outlets for violations and has started imposing fines. Helmets, safety wire on motorcycles, gloves, boots and uniform are all required for busy bike riders for home delivery which should be ensured by the food outlets who hire them, so that bike riders can be safe in case of any accident during food delivery.

In this regard, notices have been issued to all food outlets working in the city and cantt area who are providing home delivery facilities to their customers through food bike riders. The notices state that the food outlets must ensure strict implementation of safety SOPs to ensure the safety of bike riders on home delivery so that the bike riders can be safe in case of any accident during their duty.

An awareness lecture on delivery services was also organised by the Labour Welfare Department for the active bike riders. On this occasion, the Director of Labor Welfare Department, Samiullah Khan and Labor Inspector Dr Abdul Shakur told the bike riders that the most important thing during their duty is to ensure the safety of their work because the human body is likely to suffer more injuries in a bike accident.

“Therefore, the use of a proper helmet is very important to avoid head injury while it is also important to wear gloves, wear boots and proper uniform and avoid speeding while riding so that delivery boys can protect themselves from any major accidents,” he said.
