The accused of child trafficking and renowned philanthropist, Sarim Burney was rushed to the hospital when his condition deteriorated in the City Courts lock up where he was waiting for the hearing of his case.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge in Karachi City Court heard the plea of Sarim, accused of child trafficking by tampering the documents.
FIA submitted an interim challan, details of which reveal that Sarim Burney Welfare Trust International is not registered under the Sindh Child Protection Authority.
Sarim Barney took $3,000 for a minor girl - Haya - and this he has admitted in front of the court. It is stated in the interim challan that Sarim Burney also admitted in the court that Afsheen is the real mother.
In the documents, submitted to the family court, the names of the real parents were not mentioned. Afsheen has said in the statement that the accused Sarim Burney knew that she was the real mother of Haya but she was given by Madiha to Bushra Khatun for money. Sarim Burney also knew that Bushra and Ayaz were not the real parents. Despite this, the accused Sarim Burney did not give the custody of the girl to her real mother. The suspect gave the girl to a US citizen family without obtaining permission from the real mother. Bushra Kanwal and Ayaz Khan have also made similar allegations against the accused Sarim Burney in their statements.
In the interim challan, it was stated that the accused Sarim Burney, Humaira Naz and Basalat Ali Khan gave false documents and concealed the facts. These false documents, submitted in the family court, were used for child trafficking.
The accused Sarim Burney Trust was asked several times that the affidavit submitted by Bushra and Ayaz regarding the child Haya should be given. However, he failed to give an affidavit.
The investigation of the case is still incomplete. Humaira Naz and Basalat Ali Khan are yet to be arrested.
