England dominated the USA in their Super 8 match in the ongoing T20 Worl Cup, securing a spot in the semi-finals. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, England restricted the USA to 115 runs in 18.5 overs. Chris Jordan achieved a historic feat, becoming the first English bowler to take a hat-trick in T20 World Cups, finishing with four wickets in an over.

England’s captain Jos Buttler (83 runs off 38 balls) and Phil Salt (25 runs off 21 balls) comfortably chased down the target with 62 balls to spare.

Buttler praised Jordan’s performance in the post-match conference, emphasizing his impact with bat and ball.

“I thought if we could bring our intensity we’d be too good. We’ve got great options. We wanted to bring Chris Jordan back, he adds a bit of depth with his batting capabilities as well. A World Cup hat-trick is a great effort,” Buttler said.

Adil Rashid, with two wickets for 13 runs in his four overs, earned the player of the match award for his crucial spell.

“We fought pretty well, set the tone with the ball. Was pleased to restrict them [USA] to 115. Always nice to come here and bowl. It also helps when the bowlers are keeping it tight from the other end. With the wind you got to assess from which end you will bowl. Sometimes you may get hit for four and sixes. Sometimes you pick wickets,” Rashid stated in the post-match presentation.

USA’s captain Aaron Jones admitted to a disappointing performance in their last two Super 8 games, acknowledging issues with shot selection and England’s bowling prowess.

“I guess you could say [we’ve run out of steam]. We’ve not had a good last two games. Something to look forward at for sure when we get back. But we’ve really enjoyed this tournament.

I think our shot selection wasn’t the best. We knew he was the danger-man but we still gave him some wickets,” Jones said.
