Activist Sarim Burney hospitalised amid child trafficking charges
Human rights activist and Philanthropist, Sarim Burney, arrested in a case involving child trafficking and document forgery, was transferred to a hospital from court lockup due to health issues, Express News reported.
Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has submitted an interim charge sheet in the case.
It was reported that Burney had smuggled over 20 newborns in the past year under the guise of adopting them. The bail hearing for Burney took place in the court of the Additional District and Session Judge East, presided over by a link judge in the absence of the assigned judge.

The defense lawyers filed a request to transfer Sarim Burney from Landhi Jail to Central Jail, which was approved by the court.
However, the court adjourned the hearing on the bail application to June 26 at the defence's request.
Defence lawyer Amir Nawaz Warraich informed that Sarim Burney was transferred to the hospital due to his deteriorating health while in court lockup.
The FIA has submitted an interim charge sheet, alleging that the accused attempted to smuggle children to the USA by falsely declaring them orphans.
