Luca Guadagnino, known for his visually stunning and emotionally charged films like Call Me By Your Name and Challengers, has a knack for casting actors who deliver exceptional performances. In a recent interview, he unveiled the secret behind his casting choices.

"I am not thinking about if an actor is good or not good. I am thinking if the actor is right or wrong for the character," Guadagnino shared with Cine Citta News. "I want to build a family. I want to build a tribe. I want to build a group of people who can share a vision."

This approach has led Guadagnino to work with actors like Timothée Chalamet, who received an Oscar nomination for his role in Call Me By Your Name, and Zendaya, who delivered a captivating performance in Challengers.

Guadagnino also attributed his unique filmmaking style, which often uses visual motifs to explore deeper themes, to his early exposure to French New Wave cinema. He believes that "everything could be cinema" and emphasizes the importance of visual imagery in storytelling.

Despite the recent release of Challengers, Guadagnino is already busy with his next project, Queer, a period romance. He also has several other projects in the pipeline, including After the Hunt with Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield, and a documentary about filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci.

With his talent for casting and his distinctive cinematic vision, Luca Guadagnino continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of filmmaking.
