Rain, thunderstorm expected in Karachi today: PMD
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms in Karachi on Sunday after light showers were experienced in parts of the city on Friday.
The PMD reported that Karachi's weather is expected to remain hot and humid, with temperatures reaching up to 39°C and humidity at 75%.
The recent rainfall has provided relief from the prolonged dry spell in Sindh, including Karachi, where areas like North Karachi, New Karachi, and Saddar experienced light rain.
Chief meteorologist, Sardar Sarfaraz, predicts above-normal rainfall for Sindh this monsoon, expected to begin after July 5-6.
Yesterday, the PMD forecasted light rain in Karachi, with temperatures expected to soar to 40°C on Monday.
Due to a continued increase in humidity, June 22 recorded a hot and humid day in the city. The minimum temperature in the morning was 30.5°C, while the humidity level reached 73%, resulting in a heat index higher than the actual temperature.
Yesterday, according to the meteorological department, the maximum temperature recorded in the city was 37.2°C, with a daytime humidity level of 58%.
On Monday, however, northwesterly winds from Balochistan may blow through the city from morning to afternoon, the weather is expected to be mostly clear, hot, and humid, with temperatures possibly exceeding 40°C.
Moderate to light showers were experienced in several neighbourhoods, including New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, Bahadurabad, and areas surrounding Hassan Square, Saddar, Kala Pul, and Bizerta Line on Friday
