Light rain forecast for Karachi on Sunday, 40°C heat expected on Monday

Early Warning Centre has also indicated a possibility of light rain in the city this evening

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light rain in Karachi on Sunday, with temperatures expected to soar to 40°C on Monday.

Due to a continued increase in humidity, Saturday recorded a hot and humid day in the city. The minimum temperature in the morning was 30.5°C, while the humidity level reached 73%, resulting in a heat index higher than the actual temperature.

According to the meteorological department, the maximum temperature recorded in the city was 37.2°C, with a daytime humidity level of 58%. The Early Warning Centre has also indicated a possibility of light rain in the city today.

Northwesterly winds from Balochistan may blow through the city from morning to afternoon. On Monday, the weather is expected to be mostly clear, hot, and humid, with temperatures possibly exceeding 40°C.

Residents of Karachi were greeted with sudden showers in various parts of the city after enduring a day of intense heat and humidity on Friday.

The rainfall began in the suburbs, affecting areas like the M-9 Motorway and Gulshan-e-Maymar. It then moved towards Surjani, Federal B Area, and Manghopir, where heavy rain was reported.

Moderate to light showers were experienced in several neighbourhoods, including New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, Bahadurabad, areas surrounding Hassan Square, Saddar, Kala Pul, and Bizerta Line.

In some parts of Karachi, residents witnessed light drizzle and mist, with cool winds recorded in Orangi Town.
