Pete Docter, the Chief Creative Officer at Pixar Animation Studios, has revealed exciting news about the upcoming Inside Out spinoff series for Disney+.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Docter confirmed that the series is set to premiere next spring. "We have finished. It’s coming out next spring. I’m not sure that there’s been a specific release date,” he stated.

Docter provided insight into the spinoff's concept and setting, explaining how it will delve deeper into the power of dreams and their impact on our waking lives.

"In the first film, remember we go to Dream Production to see how Riley’s dreams are made? It semi-explains why they’re so weird,” Docter said. “We’ve continued the exploration of the power of dreams and how they affect us in our waking life, as well. So it’s pretty cool.”

This announcement follows the significant success of Inside Out 2 at the global box office.

The sequel has set multiple records, including the second-biggest domestic animated opening of all time at $154.2 million and the largest worldwide opening for an animated movie, bringing in $295 million.

Inside Out 2 saw the return of Amy Poehler as the voice of Joy. Directed by Kelsey Mann with a screenplay by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, the film continues to follow Riley, voiced by Kensington Tallman, and the emotions that influence her life.

Other returning voice actors include Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan. New additions to the cast are Maya Hawke, Kensington Tallman, Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, Ayo Edebiri, Lilimar, Grace Lu, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Paul Walter Hauser.

The highly anticipated spinoff series promises to expand the Inside Out universe further, exploring themes that resonate with audiences of all ages. Fans can look forward to its release on Disney+ in the spring of 2025.
