Jason Biggs celebrates 25 years of 'American Pie' with nostalgic partnership

Jason Biggs celebrates 25 years of ‘American Pie’, recreating the iconic pie scene and sharing memories.

Jason Biggs, 46, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of "American Pie" by teaming up with EDWARDS® Desserts to recreate the film's iconic pie scene. Biggs spoke to PEOPLE about the enduring impact of the 1999 movie, noting how it changed his life. “What that time has given me is perspective and real appreciation for the impact that the movie has had around the world,” he said. Biggs added, “Wherever I travel, people want to talk to me about it. There’s now another one or two generations of people that have seen the movie, identified with the movie, liked the movie.”

The actor emphasized the positive interactions he has with fans. “Every time someone comes up to me, and it’s every day, it’s such a positive interaction. People have nothing but good things to say,” he shared. Reflecting on the passage of time, he said, “Now, of course, there are new fans of the movie, which is really cool and special, but there are people of a certain age, meaning my age, that have grown up with this movie and with me.”

Biggs expressed gratitude for his partnership with EDWARDS® Desserts, saying, “I think it will make [fans] laugh, will make them nostalgic,” referring to the re-imagined pie scene where he finds his son eating an entire anniversary apple pie. The new pie is described as “amazing” with “salted caramel and white chocolate cream and spiced apple compote.”

Biggs fondly recalled working with Eugene Levy, who played his father in the film. “I remember when he was cast, he came in and we did a rehearsal day before filming ever started, and we just went through all of the scenes and improvised so much,” Biggs said. He praised Levy as a “genius” and reflected on their comedic chemistry.

As a father to sons Sid, 10, and Laz, 6, Biggs noted that he shares a sweet, though less awkward, relationship with his children compared to the one portrayed by Levy’s character. He also reminisced about the film’s first table read, saying, “When I met the rest of the cast ... and hearing everyone’s voice as the character for the first time, I’ll never forget that day.”
