Pindi police to stay on duty during holidays

Personnel will remain active and vigilant to ensure safety, security of citizens

To ensure security across Punjab including Rawalpindi on Eidul Azha, leaves of Punjab Police have been cancelled.

Orders were issued to all officers and forces to remain at their posts and perform their official duties. All arrangements have been completed to keep security foolproof in Rawalpindi and Murree on Eid.

The order to retract leaves of police officers on Eid was issued by the IG Punjab. In which the police officers have been asked to remain in the area of their deployment. The notification states that no leave will be allowed at any level till further orders.

To maintain security and order during the festive Eid days, arrangements have been to cater to the large number of citizens who will be performing Eid prayers in a total of 659 mosques, 77 open spaces and 76 Imambargahs in Rawalpindi alone. More than 3,000 police officers and young security personnel will be on duty for their security, while more than 700 traffic police officers will perform their duties to maintain the flow of traffic.

Additionally, during the days of Eid, 21 special pickets will be installed across the city to prevent one-wheeling. More than 200 officers and personnel will be on duty to prevent traffic violations, more than 130 officers will be protecting citizens at public places and parks, and 260 personnel will be stationed at cemeteries as many turn up at the resting places of their loved ones on Eid.

Along with the district police, the elite force, female police, the dolphin force and the guard squad will also perform duties on Eidul Azha. Similarly, more than 700 officers and personnel of Rawalpindi Police will perform security and facilitation duties in Murree on this occasion. Around 300 traffic police officers have been especially deployed to maintain the flow of traffic in this area.

Special pickets have also been set up at 16 different places to ensure the safety and convenience of tourists going to Muree and further north. Additionally, six Facilitation Centres have been established at different places in Murree to guide tourists and provide them with essential facilities.

CPO Rawalpindi, Khalid Hamdani said that even on Eid, senior officers will be present in the field and ensure effective supervision.
