RAWALPINDI:

Special meetings of separated children aged between three and 13 years were arranged for divorced couples in the district court before Eidul Azha on Saturday. The fathers and mothers delivered gifts as well as Eid clothes to their children.

The majority of such couples have married again after the divorce and their kids have been living with their maternal grandparents, paternal aunts or mothers.

Following the court’s orders, a total of 26 divorced couples met with their children in the presence of grandparents, uncles and aunts of the children.

The parents brought remote cars, mobile phones, watches, garments, shoes, perfumes, artificial jewellery, sweets, fruits, glasses, toys and cash for the children. Emotionally-charged children ran towards their parents and hugged them. With tears in their eyes, the parents kissed and hugged their kids.

A father, Idrees Ahmed, said that he was separated from his wife five years ago due to domestic disputes and had two children. Ahmed’s son is now 10-year-old and daughter 11-year-old.
