Paul Jason Klein, lead singer of the band LANY, has been hospitalised following a Vespa accident.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma native shared the news on Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday, June 11. Klein, 36, revealed that he had been hit by a car last week while riding his Vespa, resulting in multiple injuries.
In the post, Klein shared several photos of his injuries, including one where his face is covered with blood from wounds on his forehead, cheekbone, and chin. Another photo showed him with a bandage on his leg and bruises on his face and knees.
Klein recounted the incident, stating, “On Thursday night of last week, I got hit by a car while I was on my Vespa heading home from the gym. I don’t really remember anything after the collision… I woke up on a stretcher being put into an ambulance.”
Despite the injuries, Klein expressed gratitude for his survival. “I’ve cried a lot of thankful and happy tears during the last few days. I know how fortunate I am to still be here,” he wrote. He added that while his vitals are stable, walking and moving around remain challenging, but he is making progress and expects to be fully recovered soon.
Due to Klein's condition, LANY announced the postponement of their upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand. “The doctors have advised we reschedule our upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand to fast track my recovery,” the band’s joint statement read. Fans who have purchased tickets for these shows are advised to hold onto them, with new dates to be announced shortly. The original dates were set for June 19, 21, 23, 26, and 28 in Australia, followed by June 30 in New Zealand.
Klein assured fans that all other tour dates remain unchanged. He concluded the post with a positive note, saying, “This experience has only intensified the feelings of purpose I have, so I can’t wait to heal up and get back to it. I love you and this life deeply! See you soon ❤️.”
