The reasons why Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are selling their $60 million marital home in Beverly Hills have been disclosed, according to a source.
According to People Magazine, the couple, who have been facing ongoing divorce rumors, have been unhappy with the property since purchasing it in May 2023.
A source close to the couple shared that Affleck, 51, "never liked the house" because it is "too far away from his kids." Affleck has three children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, and the distance has been a significant issue for him.
Lopez, 54, also expressed her dissatisfaction, finding the house "too big for her." The sprawling 38,000-square-foot mansion, which boasts 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, was initially bought to accommodate their blended family. Lopez co-parents twins Max and Emme, 16, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Reports of the home's sale emerged after new interior photos were spotted on Zillow, according to the Daily Mail. While Lopez has been residing in the mansion, Affleck has been staying in a rental amid their marital challenges.
Despite the decision to sell, the couple remains "friendly" and continues to spend time together "every few days." Speculation about their potential split began in May, with a source telling Page Six that Affleck had "come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work," describing their time together as a "fever dream."
Lopez recently dismissed a reporter's inquiry about their relationship during her "Atlas" press tour. The couple has since shown a united front at various events, including graduation parties and basketball games. Affleck was seen visiting their marital home for four hours over the weekend.
Lopez and Affleck relationship history dates back to a two-year engagement from 2002 to 2004. They reconnected in 2021 and married the following year.
