KARACHI:

Key roads in Karachi remained blocked for hours on Wednesday morning due to a protest by lawyers, causing significant traffic disruptions, Express News reported.

The affected areas included Sharea Faisal, Qayyumabad Road, National Highway, Korangi Road, Sunset Boulevard, Gizri Road and others.

Containers were used to block the roads, leading to long queues of vehicles. Commuters were unable to reach their workplaces on time due to the route disruptions.

Severe traffic jams were reported from Defence Mor to Punjab Chowrangi. Traffic police advised travellers to opt for alternate routes to reach their destinations.

The protest was sparked by allegations from lawyers that a truck driver had been assaulted by the police. Later, according to media reports, lawyers announced to end their protest.

SSP South stated that successful negotiations were held with the lawyers, leading to the conclusion of the protest. Later, the traffic flow normalised.
