ISLAMABAD:

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that his party will continue to oppose the government formed after ‘rigged’ elections, come what may, adding if their struggle is construed as a war, so let it be.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the JUI chief refuted the media reports of his contacts with the PTI founder Imran Khan and termed the reports as a pack of lies.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said his party will evolve a political strategy after the Eidul Azha, adding, “We are ready to face the repercussions.” The JUI-F chief asserted, “We believe in a positive democratic struggle and aim to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state. We have chosen the path of peace and will continue to advance along this route.”

He highlighted that global powers aim to control Pakistan economically and politically. “We will resist these global powers through our struggle,” he added.

The JUI-F chief criticized intelligence agencies for being instrumental during elections, adding that his party rejected the results of 2018 and 2024 elections.

“It pains me to say that the government’s writ has ended in K-P and Balochistan. The resources of tribal area are being captured. We don’t want to see weak military and national defence, but they want to see us and the parliament toothless,” said Fazl. He lamented that women were selling their windows and doors for bread.

He also commented on the situation in Palestine, noting that over 40,000 people have been martyred while the Palestinian camps are still under fire. “The International Court of Justice has called Israel’s actions oppressive. Why are international human rights organisations silent on Israel’s atrocities?” he asked. He urged the Muslim Ummah to provide financial support to Palestine, adding the European countries are now recognising Palestine.
