JHELUM:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Sunni Ittehad Council (PTI-SIC) MPA from Pind Dadan Khan Brig (retd) Mushtaq Ahmed has urged the Punjab government to restore funds in the upcoming provincial budget for the construction of a ‘much-delayed’ dual carriageway between Lillah and Jhelum in his constituency.

In a statement, he said that the people of Pind Dadan Khan Tehsil had been enduring immense hardships and difficult life for the last four years, adding the road approved in the tenure of the PTI government should not become part of the politics.

He was of the view that the road could not be constructed until its contract was transferred from the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to any other company. The key road would have been completed by now had there been the PTI government, he opined.

The delay in the construction implied that the locals were being punished for not voting in favour of PML-N, the MPA lamented and urged the government to refrain from politicising the issue and provide relief to the people of Pind Dadan Khan.

Ahmed further said that despite a series of protests by the locals, the Punjab government paid no heed to the grave problem, urging Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to restore funds for the dual carriageway between Lillah and Jhelum in the upcoming provincial budget and expedite the completion of the project.
