The 41-year-old Super Bass singer, who married her high school sweetheart Kenneth Petty in 2019, started the online drama by posting a cryptic tweet on X (formerly Twitter), saying  “yes single.”

With no further information provided, this action prompted fans to speculate whether the rapper is discussing her relationship status or teasing upcoming music.

One fan inquired, “So are we getting a new single or are you single?”Another supporter expressed, “We love you no matter what, idc if you're single or dropping a new single.”

The mysterious post follows her husband Kenneth's request to a court in April seeking permission to travel outside the U.S. He is currently on probation following his 2021 conviction for failing to register as a sex offender.

In a Vogue profile from December 2023, the Super Bass artist detailed the intricacies of her relationship with Petty, whom she has known since high school.
