A stray dog attacked a two-year-old child in New Karachi, leaving deep gashes on his cheek and mouth. The child was taken to Sindh Government Hospital, but the hospital staff refused to treat him, saying that there was no doctor or medicine available, and instead advised taking him to a major healthcare facility.
The child was then taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Hospital for treatment, where he received 25 stitches and vaccine for the dog bite.
The child’s father, Umair, told The Express Tribune that they are residents of Sector 5J of New Karachi. On June 6, his mother was sitting outside their house with her two-year-old grandson, Zuhaan, when a stray dog suddenly appeared and attacked the child. By the time neighbours responded to her shrieks for help the canine had already bitten him and ran away.
