Bollywood condemns Kangana slap after she called out 'Rafah gang’

Actors call for legal investigations regarding the incident at Chandigarh airport

Bollywood celebrities Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, and Shekhar Suman, have voiced their disapproval over the recent incident involving Kangana Ranaut. According to the Hindustan Times, the actor, who is also a BJP MP, claimed she was slapped and verbally abused by a female CISF constable during a security check at Chandigarh airport on Thursday.

Azmi took to X, stating, "I have no love lost for Kangana. But I can't find myself joining this chorus of celebrating the slap. If security personnel start taking the law into their hands, none of us can be safe."

Kher, speaking to the paparazzi at an event, said, "The way a woman slapped another woman by taking advantage of her position is wrong. This should be legally investigated. She can have grievances, but it shouldn't be done by taking advantage of their power.” He added, “To do something like this is very sad and unfortunate. Not only because now Kangana is an MP or actor, I think any kind of violence towards anybody, forget about women, isn't right. Tomorrow anyone can do this to anyone on any matter and later make excuses."

Suman and his son Adhyayan were also present at the event. Suman remarked, "It was very wrong. It was unfortunate. This shouldn't happen with anyone. No one has the right to do this. This is illegal what she has done. She should get punished for this. I understand that she might have some anger or protest in her mind but the way it was expressed was very wrong. It could also have been said in a decent manner.”

In response to the previous silence regarding the incident, Kangana criticised Bollywood's silence in a series of now-deleted Instagram posts. Referring to the industry as the “All Eyes on Rafah gang,” she wrote, “Dear film industry you are all either celebrating or are totally mum on the airport attack on me. Remember, if tomorrow you are walking disarmingly on some street of your country or anywhere else in the world and some Israeli or Palestinian hits you or your children just because you tried to bring eyes to Rafah or stood up for Israeli hostages, then you will see I will be fighting for your rights of free speech.”

In another Instagram Story, the Queen actor condemned those celebrating her assault, warning, “This can happen to you or your children as well. When you celebrate a terror attack on someone, be ready for the day it comes back to you as well."
