Prince George did not attend the wedding of his godfather, the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, at Chester Cathedral.
According to People Magazine, the 10-year-old royal's absence among the 400 guests, including Prince William and Princess Eugenie, was likely due to school commitments. The ceremony fell on a school day, and earlier in the week, Prince William revealed that Princess Charlotte had exams, indicating George might also have been occupied with tests.
Prince William, who was busy with usher duties, attended without Kate Middleton, who is undergoing cancer treatment, another factor that could have affected George’s attendance, People Magazine reports.
Hugh Grosvenor, 33, is a close family friend and godfather to Prince George and Prince Archie. The wedding, considered the society event of the year, also saw invitations extended to other royal family members, including Prince Harry, who acknowledged it would be difficult for him to attend.
The relationship between the Grosvenors and the British royals spans generations, with godparent roles traditionally exchanged. The ceremony at the 11th-century cathedral and the private reception at Eaton Estate underscored the strong ties and ongoing traditions between these prominent families.
