Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Hollywood A-listers Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has taken a significant step towards establishing her own identity by filing a petition to legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie. Legal experts believe that the request is likely to be approved swiftly, as long as there are no unforeseen complications.

Neama Rahmani, a legal expert not involved in the case, explained to Us Weekly that such requests are "liberally granted" in California, as long as the name change is not for a misleading or deceptive purpose. He stated, "It's a simple petition. A judge does have to grant it, and they're almost always granted."

Us Weekly confirmed that Shiloh filed the paperwork on her 18th birthday, requesting to drop her father's last name and adopt her mother's maiden name. While the request is yet to be approved, Rahmani believes it will likely be granted "pretty quickly."

This is not the first instance of Pitt's children opting to drop his last name. Zahara, 18, used her mother's maiden name when joining a sorority at Spelman College last year. Vivienne, 15, also used her mother's maiden name professionally while working as a production assistant for a Broadway musical produced by Angelina Jolie.

The news of Shiloh's name change request comes amidst the ongoing legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over their divorce and custody of their minor children. While their divorce is still ongoing, a judge declared them legally single in 2019. However, disputes over custody and the ownership of their French winery remain unresolved.

Despite the ongoing legal battles, there are indications that the couple may be nearing a resolution, with reports suggesting that an agreement is in the works that would grant Angelina Jolie primary custody of their minor children.
